On Shopify you can post videos in the following locations:
  • On the Homepage
  • On Product Detail Page (PDP)
  • On any page, such as "Contact Us" or "About" or any other page.

Why videos?
  • Videos showcasing products, Lifestyle videos , Explainer videos, About the Company, etc.
  • Videos can have an enormous effect on increasing conversions and familiarizing your customers with your products.
  • Videos are one of the most information-dense mediums to use when marketing products.
  • They don't work for all user experiences, but they're essential for the right type of customer.
  • REWORD: 73% of consumers are more likely to make a purchase when they can see a video explaining how its used. [source]
  • REWORD: 4x as many customers would rather watch a video about a product than pour over a long product description.

Do not try to host your videos on Shopify directly.
  • Options available are YouTube, Vimeo, Self-hosting...

YouTube
  • Free Hosting
  • Large audience
  • At the mercy of the Google algorithm
  • Not much privacy
  • You can tell it's youtube.
  • Social Media Network
  • Some privacy features.

Vimeo
  • Paid, professional hosting
  • Customizable UI
  • Can be expensive if you need to upload a ton of video.
  • Better privacy features.

Self-hosing
  • Most control over any option
  • Technical understanding an absolute must!
  • Most expensive (dollar-wise) option at scale; you'll never beat YouTube's "free".
  • Best privacy options.

Shopify Apps

Make sure your Shopify theme supports video.
There are some themes which do not support video. Contact your Developer or Shopify Partner if you cannot find a "Featured video" option in the theme settings.
  • And also there are some themes which already have a video section in it by default, so for those themes you don’t need to Add Section to embed video.
